Explanation on Setting an Access Code for Old EggyUI Resources

简体中文 | English

Recently, we have set an access code for some of the old EggyUI resources. This is not intended to restrict access for genuine users, but to provide basic protection for the long-term survival of the project.

As a non-profit fan creation, EggyUI has always operated in a gray area when it comes to distribution. We neither want to receive an official legal notice from the copyright holder due to the unrestricted distribution of these resources, nor do we want the download links to be bulk-harvested by bots, indiscriminately scanned, or used in ways we do not endorse. The access code is a very low barrier, but it is an effective filter against crawlers and automated monitoring.

Moreover, publicly accessible download links are more easily indexed, reposted, and re-shared by third-party platforms. Once resources are massively redistributed, our control as the original distributor weakens dramatically, increasing the project's legal exposure. Setting an access code is not a refusal to share, but a way to bring sharing back to a smaller, more manageable circle.

If you have obtained the access code through legitimate channels (such as project-related chat groups or official pages), you are our intended audience. Enter the code, download, and use it as usual. We understand that this extra step may cause some inconvenience, but we ask for your understanding—it is one of the conditions that allows this project to continue existing under the current circumstances.

If the external environment tightens further in the future, we may adjust the access method or even stop distribution altogether. Until then, the access code is the least intrusive and most effective risk control measure we can offer. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Additional note: Distribution of the XCSNRTV System is not affected by this restriction. That system is a fan work created by an enthusiast of EggyUI and is unrelated to the EggyUI project itself. As a third-party resource, it falls outside the scope of this restriction.
